  1. You can't make this stuff up.

Meth, more likely. Sounds like the handiwork of a tweaker. I worked a print shop once where we showed up one morning to no power. There wasn't an outage, but tweakers had climbed a fence and destroyed the electricity panel/wiring on the building, presumably stealing the copper. Seems like a...
  2. Tracing channel letters

^^What he said. This was covered in a thread a couple years back. Tex posted an image of tracing on page 3: https://www.signs101.com/threads/mildew-grime-inside-lit-channel-letters.166756/page-3
  3. DMCA takedown notice phishing scheme

Like others said, no attorney is going to address this issue via a website form. Such fancy English! Despite spam filters, some crap still comes through my website form. Usually it's offshore outfits wanting to help me with SEO and marketing. I curse the people who actually respond to this junk...
  4. Happy Eater

"Eater" is correct, along with "Hoppy". I enjoyed a bag of potato chips and a few frosty IPAs before 5pm in a toast to old JC.
  5. Install halo lit letters on wood fence?

Yup, was planning to do just that. "Sign shop recon"
  6. Can I get some assistance from experienced people?

Why not post your questions right here on the forum so everybody can learn from them. If you must have a personal consultant, I know a guy. He will take the time to *listen*.
  7. Install halo lit letters on wood fence?

Looks like this sign finally went up...five months later. I turned down the job and don't know who ended up doing it, but it was done as I'd described to the customer. The letters are mounted on a nice piece of what appears to be cedar as a backer, and not directly to the fence. Evidently...
  8. How many one man shops are there? How many things do you do?

Yes! My shop hours are now 9 to 3. Gives me time before and after for appointments and site visits. I also blocked out my ground level windows after people ignored the Closed sign and looked through a window and knocked. I'm also a one-man shop and most often the biggest cause of clusterf*cks...
  9. Moldy vinyl?

Is there an official outgassing debate thread? Seems like the hottest topic around here. Those signs look sunburned/UV damaged to me. I've seen signs like that in my area, most are south or west facing and look like someone dusted them with a flamethrower. I know of one that was made with cut...
  10. Okay, I think I have a winner here..................................................................................

Are you frickin kidding? I feel bad for teachers, and dealing with the children is probably the least of their stressors. Between dealing with difficult parents and all the bureaucratic BS, it's amazing how so many of them hold on as long as they do. Jiffy Lube employees look like thug killers...
  11. What? In order for me to do some work for you, you want to have the option to audit my business expenses of the job!

I've done a few installs where I went in my personal vehicle, out of uniform, sometimes on a Sunday...LOL Some jobs I don't want to be associated with. Various reasons. I don't post any political or potentially controversial signage on my website or social media. I'm here to make signs, not...
  12. I just saw this in an ad

It means Always Low Prices* *But not really
  13. Best way to re-do this wrap

Yeah...I just did a test and it won't even work with the knifeless tape I have on hand. I did a test using the Design Line tape and it snapped, couldn't slice through laminated vinyl. I think it's meant for just a single layer of cast vinyl. Is the Finish Line knifeless what's needed to cut...
  14. Best way to re-do this wrap

I'm thinking about trying knifeless tape on a similar van install coming up. Is it good for making relief slices in the indented areas? I've been cutting by hand and find it stressful.
  15. Cutting core tubes?

LOL! I'd be tempted to use a gas chainsaw for added sound effects, so my neighbor next door would wonder WTF is going on over here.
  16. Customers in production areas

Ass tables? Sounds like something Tex might be interested in...
  17. Customers in production areas

I installed casters on the bottoms of the shelving used to barricade my customer area, it was pretty tight as it was. Let's see how long it takes until someone leans against one and goes for a ride. It was cheaper to cannibalize the 4-wheel creepers at Horror Freight than to buy actual casters...
  18. How to explain outsourcing?

I never did. I usually use terms like "B2B wholesaler" or "trade printer/fabricator". Great feedback everyone, thank you. Especially the phrase about being able to save the customer money.
  19. Customers in production areas

    Blender, or tosser? LOL
