  1. Imageclub10!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got a call from this idiot this morning. Obviously bought a list of contact info from somewhere. He told me I had an "attitude" and I hung up on him. He called back several hours later and began screaming at me. When I told him to just come on over to the shop, he said I "threatened him."...
  2. Customer turned "competitor"

Again, I'm not mad. Just frustrated. I worked for two other shops before I went out on my own too but one is 1200 miles away. The other is local and Im still ok with the guy. I worked for him for almost 10 years on and off. It's the low baller thig that kills me. Too many backyard shops taking...
  3. Curious to what people are charging a sq ft for wraps in your area???

I can't imagine ever going below 11-12 (for a vehicle I won't even go that low) unless it's something simple & flat like a box trailer and even then no less than 10 at a minimum. Otherwise, it ain't worth doing.
  4. Powder Coating

Everybody's entitled to their opinion, but I think powder coating is about as much a fad as digital printing. It's been around for 40 years. The only local competion isn't geared to do short runs or custom jobs and I know him pretty well (he has a plotter). I think we could complement each other...
  5. Powder Coating

So others have done to coatings and landscaping what you've done to signs then... Glad I'm not in that market.
  6. Powder Coating

I'm considering a venture into the coatings business. This would be spray-in bedliners, hydro image dipping and powder coating, with emphasis on the powder coating. The liners I already do, just don't push it. The hydro image dipping requires painting equipment & knowledge, which I already have...
  7. Interesting towing rig...

No, they actually make hitches for them. My buddy has a C5 ZO6 that he road races and he has a small trailer to carry the race tires but it looks nowhere as ridiculous as this. I didn't stick around to get a shot with cargo, but it was an older couple and they bought 2x4's, plywood and a LOT of...
  8. Interesting towing rig...

I saw this at Lowe's yesterday and it left me kinda speachles...
  9. Show your rides?

Ronk455, those are some bitchin' rides! You go to Columbus for Goodguys?
  10. Show your rides?

Funny that you have a Street Glide and want a Sportster! That thing is sick though. Reminds me of riding my knucklehead, kick only, no front brake, drum in the rear, suicide shift, internal throttle... fun times.
  11. Sign Painting in the old days

I got started the "old" way too, in the early 90's. We had a large FLEET account that was reflective vinyl. The owner made templates and I would trace them to the vinyl with stabillo and hand cut them. The letters on the trailers were large, single color but the cabs had an outline and the...
  12. Do you guys laminate car window decals?

This is how we usually do it as well. If you don't laminate or pre-mask the customer WILL ruin the decal while applying and laminate ain't much more than premask.
  13. Customer turned "competitor"

He paid it about a week before this all started.
  14. Customer turned "competitor"

I wasn't looking for sympathy. My Grandfather came back from WWII with a purple heart. That has nothing to do with the subject at hand. I wasn't pleading with the government to shut him down. Just the kerning? I really don't give a ****. Yea, Craig, I feel ya. I may only be 36 but I started...
  15. Customer turned "competitor"

I already have all that stuff. But I guess I could use spares :)
  16. Show your rides?

Oh, you've touched on my weakness here. I've put up a few pics of the ones that I've found. Some are long gone, some aren't. 1965 Riviera Gran Sport - Long term project, at RPM Hot Rods in Pittsburgh for a resto-mod make over. LS3, 6 speed, air ride, big brakes, etc. 08 Silverado - shop...
  17. Customer turned "competitor"

So, this "friend" (I've been aquainted with him for about 20 years) / customer (who owed me $92 for about 18 months) stopped by and says he's tired of the business he has and he'd like to get into something new. He asked if I needed any help. I don't need any help and we typically slow down some...
  18. Local competitor with WAY LOW pricing

This happened to me today (literally).
  19. Local competitor with WAY LOW pricing

If it weren't 18 feet up, I'd say $450 would be fair. Especially with acrylic. I'm not a fan of using it, but anymore it's pretty much what we have to do to remain competitive on price. Given that it's at 18' we would most likely be $600-650. Any more than that and we would never get the job.
  20. Shop Race Car Wrap...

Does it have a "Monster" conversion? If not,why not!?!? Wrap looks cool. I dig the color combo.
