Blasting HDU

I've been blasting redwood for a while and am rather familiar with it. I prefer a high tack rubber that will stick to bare wood. Will this work on 15# and 18# foam? Do I need to paint the foam first to get rubber to stick? I don't really want to get a whole new product in my inventory just for this one job. Any helpful 411 apreciated.

I like to finish paint first, so that when you are done blasting you leave the mask on, paint background, remove mask and its finished.

When I've done it we painted first, used our regular sandblast stencil, painted the blasted portion and peeled the stencil, same as for wood.
