Can Gerber Edge Prints be contour cut on a Non-Gerber Plotter?

I have an Edge FX and an Envision 375. The Envision has lost its accuracy and just can't cut circles/corners reliable any longer. I have a Summa plotter and I would like to know if I can cut my Edge prints on the Summa. I'm thinking NO but does anyone have ideas?

Seems to me that you would have to generate 4 registration marks versus a single sightbomb mark. A single sightbomb mark seems as though it wouldn't be accurate enough (due to tracking) in a friction feed plotter. I could be wrong. I may just have to play with it. I'm sure I can get something to work but I want it to be a quick repeatable process.

we have the same problem with our gerber plotter. it's 13 yrs old and owes me nothing so i just use it for the re-run jobs that it can still cut correctly. as for your question, i would think as long as you can import/incorporate the register marks your summa needs to cut a job in to your gerber file/artwork there should be no problem. i have never done this but i would think it's no different then when you do a regular job the plotter will cut what ever you put in as long as it has the register marks to align your cuts.

Yes it can be done, but not with the gerber single registration. So when you place the registration marks you will loose that much more of the print area.

I bought an Edge several years ago. I've never had a Gerber plotter..... We run the Edge with FlexiSign and then cut the vinyl on our Summa cutter. Flexi adds the contour cut detect marks for the Summa to the prints. Works great.
