CG 101 USB issues

I am using an old CG 101 plotter and I am trying to hook it up to a laptop. My problem is that I don;t have a Serial connector on the laptop and that is what the plotter uses to connect. So I purchased a Serial-USB connector and tried to use it that way but when I got to cut, Fine Cut tells me there is a driver needed to talk to the plotter. That is fine except that I cant seen to find that driver anywhere, and the Mimaki site has no info for my model. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions wold be much appreciated.
