What is the best or easiest software for ganging jobs/prints and make cutter marks/circles for Colex cutter? Don’t really need a whole big package like Onyx or Caldera

Coreldraw or illustrator to make them.... you still need a tip if you are printing.
We are currently having to send through the art dept and they are using Illustrator. I just didn’t know if there was a program that was simple enough for the operator to just import customers files of same or different sizes and it will automatically fit to best size and make a cut file for the Colex at the same time

There is no easy button in this industry but there are a lot of plugins for AI and CD, also the better RIP programs can do all of that.

What is your current programs you use to accomplish your printing and cutting?

We are a small digital trade shop the just got into large format in the last couple of years. We have a jfx200 and just load customers files into Rasterlink. Currently we have to send to a separate art set and they just impose and create a print file and a cut file. It just seems that Onyx or Caldera would be overboard for what we are needing or maybe this is a misconception to me. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated as I come from an offset printing background

You will gain lots of productivity gains that will come from semi automation, nesting, etc. It will also help with managing multiple machines when you get to that point.

The other option is to look at plugins for illustrator that may help automate nesting and cutter mark placement.

We also have a cjv solvent and just got a ucjv. So maybe Onyx or Caldera might be the thing. Which is better in your opinion and what version

Flexi will be able to take your Illustrator files and create a composition for you. Depending on which level you get, it can also be used for a RIP and outputting to your plotter. It is quite affordable and easy to use.
