flexi 12/production manager L26500 - print as spot colors preference

Is there a way to make this a default? If I print Pantone colors, I have to check the "use printer spot colors" then click on "mapping" and switch every one to print as process color. If I forget, it just prints a solid black, yellow, etc. And I keep forgetting

un-check "use printer spot colors"
and it will process all of them.
We only use this feature to print black with only black ink.

oh seriously, it's that easy? I figured if unchecked it would substitute with the colors, I guess I should have tried that
