this was done about ten years ago.. so i thought maybe it was a gerber font.

I think it's an old Gerber font too.
Someone around here made signs from that all the time.
It's similar to Horatio but Horatio is nowhere near as bold. And it's not V.A.G. either.
Just checked all my Gerbers.
