I need 80,000...

Anybody got any ideas for a super cheap material that would be used to display a interior point of purchase product? Requirements are: it must be 3/4" thick, it must be black (not looking to paint them), it must be able to be able to be screwed into and hold an item that might weight 4-5 lbs and it must be able to be flatbed printed to or have a decal applied to it. I'm going to need 80,000 pieces of 16"x16" squares. My hopes is that I could get each board for about $1/piece (I might be dreaming here). Any ideas on a material that would meet these requirements?

This was my gut thought too, It requires painting, but I would think a good fixture/cabinet/display shop (not your average kitchen cabinet maker, a huge cabinet factory that specializes in custom in-store retail fixtures) would probably be able to cut a high-quality .75 MDF or Extira and spray it black for you to get you pretty close to your budget.

Even when buying the 4500 sheets of material you're going to need for this, I can't see being able to get .75 PVC anywhere near your price piece, you're basically talking $18 a sheet... That's a tall order.

I really think your best option, or at least most cost effective option, is going to be going with some sort of manufactured wood product and painting it, as incredibly daunting as that may sound...
