Need Help installing perf vinyl getting weird pattern on laminate

Using Arlon optically clear laminate on an Oracal (Oraguard) perf 50/50 vinyl. Looks great straight on but looking from the side there is a distracting pattern where I installed using either a felt side or flat side of a queegie - both do it. You have to apply a fair amount of pressure to keep from getting bubbles but i can almost see where the vinyl is getting stressed as I apply. Thank you in advance for no smart a$$ comments. Yes, I generally do know what I'm doing but haven't seen this before in 20 years of installing vinyl.

The overlam is grabbing onto the window through the holes.

Give it 24-48 hours and the pattern will go away in its own
