probably encoder strip

clean your encoder strip with damp cloth and light soap, rinse it clean with damp cloth be careful not to fog it or leave smudges behind

if not it can be motor or encoder eye

just went through this myself, mine was the eye

+1 on the encoder strip. also i would just check you alignment anyway just because it alwayz a good thing to do. u can also use isopropyl alcohol on the strip as well.

We are fortunate to have it available to us.

By any chance does any body out there have a
pdf of the jv3 service manual, I need to tackle the
alignment procedure.
