Make your own Hydrofilm?

Has anyone tried to make their own hydrofilm print sheets?
Been reading up a bit, and have used PVA in past years as a mold release - sprayed with an HVLP and was fast drying, thus easy to build thickness.

I'm curious if it's possible to use some large discarded backing mediums to test on, and then running it through a solvent printer (or other).

Thoughts?

Thanks, just had a look, media is a bit pricey.
In fact, am placing an order for PVA - and do a bit of Frankensteining to see what comes of it.
