Material to cut a painting stencil from?

Hey all. I've got a Roland GX-24 and I'm going to make some templates to do some painting.

Basically I want to put a large logo and phone number on the back of two flat bed delivery trucks. They trucks are diamond plate steel and I don't think Vinyl is the best material for the project.

Is there a certain material people cut to make templates, or should I just use my normal vinyl and "reverse" my weeding?

Thanks in advance,
Vick

Gerber mask is what I use. On diamond plate it will be a "pita". How bout
a pounce pattern and paint it that way....if you even know what that is.

We use Oracal 631 all the time for paint mask.

As far as stencil material. I use the clear backing from 3m 8519 overlam.
It's rigid but thin.

Paint mask is typically thick and doesn't conform very well. I would think it would a problem to get a good edge seal on diamond plate. I would just letter with a cast vinyl, a rivit brush and a little heat, you'll get a better result.
