Mutoh VJ1638 Headstrike Issue

Hello!

We recently (in the last 6-8 months) purchased a Mutoh ValueJet 1638 from a company that has never sold a printer like this. They specialize in more copiers etc. Anyhow, for installation they just brought it in, kind of leveled it with a construction level and left us. We have had issues with getting headstrikes (we have the heavy duty take up system on it) and I'm wondering if anyone else out there has this issue. These printers, from what I understand are pretty new to the market and don't seem to have very many reviews on them.

Our old printer Mutoh Blizzard 90 we bought directly from Mutoh and when they brought the printer in they calibrated it and leveled it and told us not to move it because it would need to be recalibrated. I find it strange that this printer would not require the same kind of set up... I'm wondering if it's this companies lack of experience. But we are wasting a lot of time and material printing and reprinting things due to headstrikes. We are careful to load the media straight so I don't THINK that is the issue but it may be. We have also adjusted the heat settings to avoid the 'ripples' that sometimes form between the rollers and cause headstirkes.

Please help!

Take up system

The heavy duty take up requires extra training from Mutoh before they will allow the dealer to install. What is very important is that the take up roll is parallel to the feed rollers. PM me and I will explain how to check it
