Righto was does the prepress function actaully do?

And how many DPI will the pdf end up being saved as or is that determined by how dpi it was created in?

Raster .pdf, depending on output needs should be set up prior to saving as .pdf. Example: Signs, Banners, 150 dpi at final size. High end products: Brochures, Post cards, Menus, etc. 300 dpi at final size. Work with raster file in Corel Photo Paint or Adobe Photo Shop. Export as .tiff, then bring into Corel Draw to add text, etc. Then save as .pdf. Vector based .pdf files can be scaled to any size without loss of quality.
