Oversized hole for Studded dimensional letter to wood sign?

I don't have a ton of experience with dimensional letters.
My customer has a wood plank sign with aluminum framing the outside of it.
When stud mounting 1/2" acrylic letters should I oversize the holes more than normal for expansion
and contraction?

Right now they're going in fine with some force, but I'm worried about the wood expanding/contracting
& cracking the acrylic letters...
What do you think?

I don't know what others would say, but I wouldn't worry about it. I usually like to drill the holes just barely bigger than the studs, dab some silicone so that they fit snugly in there.
