PDF to TIFF Automated

Does anyone know of a way to save PDF files to TIFF files in an automated fashion... or in other words, as a batch process? I know I can open a PDF file and save it as a TIFF, but I have a request to do that to over 1400 PDF files! I've had no real luck searching for this, but thought that someone on here might have an idea!!

combine all your PDf into one multipage PDF (or section of x number of pages) and from Acrobat, you can export to tiff..

I thought of that also... Customer needs files back as individual TIFF files named the same as the PDF's. I've found a few "converters", but they are very poor and crash if I try to process more than 10 or so at once...
