Replacing a manifold

Hello I am going to attempt to replace a manifold on on my sj-540 tomorrow. It looks pretty straight forward but I thought I would ask if anyone had any advice or pointers before I got started. And, don't tell me to call a tech. That was the first thing I did. He can't work on my machine (too old). Thanks.

Three main points:

1. Once the manifold is off, use the screws to pop the nuts out of place on the old manifold so you can put them in the new manifold.

2. When putting the manifold back on, do not tighten one side all the way before starting to tighten the other side. Think of it like putting on a tire on a car. Get one side slightly fastened and then do the same on the other side. After both sides are more ore less attached then tighten both sides. This will make sure there is not tension pulling in one direction causing one side to close up.

3. Do not tighten so hard that the manifold starts to bend. My rule of thumb is to tighten to the point where you can just start to see the screw showing through the top of the nut.

machine is too old? more like he's too new and hasn't a clue.
old machines should be their bread&butter.

are these dx4 head manifolds? If I remember correctly, I believe there's tiny O-rings between the manifold and where it makes contact with the head that you should be careful not to lose.

Thats correct. Other than that it is pretty straight forward. Also remember to write down or swap the head rank sticker which I believe is on the manifold.
