Hey yall, I need to figure out another way to increase my production and replace my Summa 30" cutter. I have 20 designs that cut out, I don't print, I don't laminate, just punch out the same sets of shapes over and over and over. I'm trying to decide between a small rotary die press (Sohn mini flexomatic printer is what I'm being told will work 6503 https://sohnmanufacturing.com/sohn-model-6503/) my main material is either 12 or 6" wide and the 6503 comes in a 7" model. I just have absoutly no experince with anything like this. The other option is possibly a flatbed plotter. The material I cut is not really cut out for a traditional plotter but I've been making due. Any suggestions or experience would help.

THanks,

Joel

Is there any chance you would need to be able to cut out various shapes?

Die cutters will make quick work of repetitive jobs if you don't need any variability. My thought would be to not get a flatbed cutter until die changes become cost prohibitive.

Also, there are not alot of low cost options for a take-up roll on a flatbed cutter. Without a take-up, the cutter must be attended while it runs.

I have another plotter for design testing and changes that I could use before a die could be made.

I have another plotter I use for product testing and small run production that could be used while a die is made. I really need that take-up roll and I like the test run the did for me on the rotary die (it weeds it onto a scrap roll....what the ding dong is that!!!!
