Is anyone aware of a supplier that sells banner fabric in LESS than 50 yard length? I was about to order a 54"x50 yd roll of 16 oz opaque fabric from Grimco when I realized shipping was going to be $170! I got a roll from Feller's with no shipping charge. That was great, but I'm 73 and I'm having troubles loading the roll on the printer (same with 38" roll of 13 oz). I'd like to get maybe a 30 yard roll of these fabrics; I'd even pay more per square foot. I know my Fedex guy would be thrilled.

Are there no suppliers servicing you who deliver LARGE & HEAVY product by company truck?
we get much of what we buy from harbor sales in maryland.
if there is no one, you might look at ebay for discounted shipping or amazon prime.
you may not get a WHOLESALE price on the banner roll, but $170 shipping is hard to swallow.
regarding the weight of the rolls, when you are loading, we modified my roland sc545-ex to hold 3 rolls, to minimze thiskind of problem
If you have a Grimco account, any purchase over $100 is free shipping. But they don't sell any 54" 16 oz opaque banner material.
Some banner materials are available in shorter rolls. But not many. Grimco's Duratex Forward 13 oz comes in 115' rolls in all three widths. With free shipping.

I feel you! Heavy rolls can be a real challenge. I've had good experiences with Stouse.com, they offer banner fabric in smaller quantities, including 10-20 yard rolls. You might also want to check out BannerWorld.com, they have a variety of fabric options and roll sizes.

As far as loading, they have a lift used for heavy rolls, overkill, but better than a wrecked back at any age. I thought these were typically powered, this picture doesn't appear to have a motor that I can see.

It looks like it could be a lot of help for the initial lift, but it obviously doesn't make the roll any lighter.
