Need Help Sign install questions

Chris...

New Member
I usually don't do installs, I just design and cut or print vinyl. I have a job that I have to install a 4' X 4' maxmetal 2 sided sign on 4X4 pvc post kit. My question is, do I just put the pvc posts in the ground or use treated 4X4's as high as the first horizontal cross piece for extra support?

Thanks

Chris

I'd use wood or terminal fense post with those wing brackets

I use metal "L" brackets for top and bottom stringers.. this may be overkill how I built it but I wanted it to last a while....and it was double sided

for a 4x4 ACM between two posts you can use an aluminum angle the full length, or mounting clips, or you can do frame like Texas did. It depends on budget and the purpose of the sign.
I real estate available sign get quick and cheap, a permanent install gets something nicer with minimum to no visible fasteners.

Your idea to use 4x4 up to the first crossbar will work fine. You should try to get 3' in the ground.

If you're using 6mm, you should be fine and we try to dig our holes around 38" to 42", unless you're using concrete. Then, 30" will be fine.

Is that double sided BeBond or is there a reason you put the masked face to the inside of the sign? Maybe I've been using it wrong the whole time, but I always peel the BeBond graphic off the face I want to use, at least for single sided BeBond.

Now I'm confused. It was a double sided sign that I used two double-sided bebond panels for. I left the backing on it because the backs were going to be concealed. If it was a single side sign I would have pealed it off. I only stock the double-sided bebond boards even if I'm only using one side.

Got it, makes sense. I almost always use single sided BeBond and wasn't sure if I was missing some cool sign pro trick. I've been working with the flu the last few days so everything has been confusing to me.

Really? REALLY? Very unprofessional to leave the backer on the substrate. Looks horrible. I've seen quite a few signs with the backer on them and it peels off and looks terrible. Please remove your backers.

I am assuming you are talking about 4ever products PVC posts? I used to use the anchors only but found 4X4's are the best way to go.

He clearly stated in an above post that it was a double sided sign in which he used two double sided panels.....

Not a real price difference between single and double sided...easy just to stock one type. That and I think the double side is thicker or stronger..but that could be all in my head.
