Treasure trove of sign textbooks

round man

New Member
I was looking thru a link on another sign board and found over 50 books for free on hand lettering, sign painting, show card writing, and just plain fancy alphabets,.....being the advocate for folks to read about their trade that I am I feel obligated to post these links to historical texts and reference material related to the trade we practice,...never again should we have to direct a newbie to search for manuals and or textbooks no longer in print in order to learn about the trade we practice,.....

Jr's after you get the pdf file open in your browser you can click on he floppy disk icon on the top left and save the file to your hard drive,....

for the books on google books site you have to click on the pdf link then once it takes you to google books you have to click the read this book button,..once the book loads there is a link on the top right
with an arrow and pdf beside it click that link and you can download the google book,...

Nice share there Round Man, :thumb: but I'll still keep my (40 years in the making) collection of books and manuals.
Unfortunately good books and manuals are getting so damned hard to find, even at an insanely exorbitant price. I just spent about 6 hours scouring my old book haunts today without finding a single specimen worth a salt. Most were very worthy of Assault.

Priceless...thanks round man, really appreciate it.

I have some old sign books and some really old sign books but always eager to study any book on signs or related trades. It can only add to one's knowledge and scope.

I could rave on how most newbies and upstarts don't know a thing about our past, basic letter forms, spacing, balanced layout, colour schemes etc, etc. Here's their chance...

The one's that do study these books will come away from it enlightened and it will show in their work, no matter if they are wrapping cars or pumping out real estate signage.
