Unusual Font problem

Downloaded the trial version of CorelX7 yesterday and didn't care for it. So I uninstalled that version. All of a sudden, I have a corrupted Arial font. Any of my programs that use Arial are showing missing characters. I tried to delete it and reinstall it, but Windows won't let me delete it because it's a system font. I've googled the problem, tried several suggestions but nothing has worked.

Any ideas among you????

No big loss. You should delete arial anyway. It's a fake Helvetica, with a stupid "R" leg.:ROFLMAO:

It's not a go to font for me but my browser and several other applications use it. It's messing with the rest of my magic box.

have you tried this? (im assuming win 7)

Log in with an Admin account
hit Start, type
c:\Windows\Fonts\Arial.ttf
in the search box and hit enter.
Press reinstall

I did try that and it didn't work. I think I may have found another kind of tricky reg edit way to do it. I just realized something, the font that is problematic shows up as an open type face and not ttf. So it might be the wrong font I tried to reinstall???

Did Corel install another instance of Arial?

I had an INSANE kerning issue with the font "Souvenir" a while back. As it turns out two version of the same font were competing against each other causing major issues.

Search for "Arial.*" and make sure you only have one version installed.

Uninstall Arial using admin privileges, power down your system then turn it back on. Install Arial, then reboot.
