VP of Sales - Advantage Sign & Graphic Solutions - Grand Rapids, MI

The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for the strategic planning and direction of the company’s Territory Sales team and Inside Sales team. Drive sales activities to achieve revenue and margin objectives. Develop new business while maintaining existing customer base and insuring a high level of customer satisfaction. Collaborate with the Executive Leadership team to set annual company goals. Establish sales objectives that support company goals.


  • Meet the annual revenue and margin objectives for general field and inside sales. Develop and monitor progress toward annual plans to meet these objectives. Establish penetration and maintenance plans for each sales territory, including forecasts for sales volume, gross margin and selling expenses.

  • Responsible for territory alignment and definition; collaborating with and providing notification to all affected departments.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales plan for the company. Coordinate and communicate with needed internal departments.

  • Keep current on trends and developments in the sign industry and graphics market including its products, methods, and promotional strategies.

  • Establish and maintain regular and frequent contact with current and potential vendors and clients.

  • Establish and maintain internal departmental policies and procedures to maximize productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

  • Maintain open communication with marketing lead(s) to ensure sales objectives are supported by both departments.

  • Provide support and implementation of marketing initiatives.

  • Collaborate with marketing and product management lead(s) to identify potential markets for products and services.

  • Be a leadership resource to other departments in support and furtherance of the company’s mission, vision, and goals.
  • Continue to invest personally in skill growth, capacity, and expertise.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Regional Sales Manager, Inside Sales Manager, Territory Sales Managers report directly to this position.
  • Ensure department managers follow and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure department managers support and further the vision, mission, and goals of the Company
  • Support development and learning opportunities for sales department

Experience & Education:

  • 4 year college degree, preferred
  • 10+ years sales experience with 3 years in the sign industry preferred
  • In depth knowledge of all aspects of account management from project conception through completion.

Skills Required:

  • Management skills to develop and implement successful sales plans.
  • Working knowledge of marketing strategies, technology tools and trends.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts to create meaningful budgets and sales forecasts, to monitor sales performance relative to gross margins, selling expenses, etc., and to provide appropriate sales data for management planning.
  • Organizational skills to manage many complex and multifaceted projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, integrity and sound judgment in conducting business transactions, and providing the highest level of customer satisfaction.

  • Frequent travel, up to 30-40 percent of time
  • Periodic lifting of equipment (up to 75 lbs)
