same here when working with plotted 3M Dusted Crystal film. I also tend to weed the designs (often just logos or lettering) after the film has been applied to the glass and the premask is removed. I’ve had more success removing liner during install with this method.
I had a similar issue using IJ 180mC-10 + 8518. I produce my prints on an HP Latex printer (which would be different from your eco solvent approach), but the consensus I came to with the help of a tech was to lower the optimizer amount going on the prints as they may not be curing/evaporating...
Ended up trying the Sihl 3216 Economy Roll Up material from Grimco. Sihl reccomends running it on the Sihl 3515 Roll Up material profile. Great results on the HP Latex 115.
Looking for a go to pull up banner material (no curl) single sided so it can have grey/black/white back to run on the latex machines. Looks like I can get my hands on a Sihl product or Briteline product from Grimco at the moment. What material and profile setup are you running?
I've been running the HP latex printer for about 5 years now. I had it set up in my home at first before moving into a larger commercial shop. It stunk when I had it at home and it stinks at the shop. I guess its all relative to the material you are running and how often the printer is running...
I print this media on my 115 setup all the time. Cant say I've had this blurry looking issue. The grainy-ness I can see on the 30" print doesnt look right either in my opinion. I would replace the print heads. Every time I have ever replaced print heads the machine runs like new.
Also would like to hear if anyone has a go to solution for pull-up banner printing on HP latex machines. I ran a roll of Duratex banner recently for some pull up banners and was not happy with the finished product. Visible rippling throughout the print. I haven't had a chance to dial in the...
Finally managed to try out the Contravision perforated film. Happy with the results. I paired it with a 3M cast overlaminate and the overall look is great. My client wanted more coverage than the 3M IJ67 (60/40 pattern) we normally stock, so we went with the Contravision 70/30. One of the pros...
IJ35C with the 8508/8509/8510 is a great combo for flat surfaces. It's a calendared film that does not require heat for application. It is not the right film for this wall.
Judging by the photos, I would approach the wall with 3M SV480 (or LX480 if using a latex printer) with 8548 or 8549...
Thanks for all this input. I like the 45 degree cut on the corner technique - thanks for sharing! To this point I have always laminated perf, but I am looking forward to trying the contravision performance without lamination. I am curious as to how long it will last when printed on HP latex...
Good to know. I think there is now a profile for the Contravision films in the HP substrate database.
I will have to let you all know how it goes when I get a chance to run some of this film. Suppliers are currently out of stock.
Looking to give this film a go myself. My supplier has paired it with an Avery Cast Optically Clear overlaminate. Do you guys seal edges on commercial window perf jobs or just run the film right to the edge?
I am going to give the performance Contravision a go. I like the idea of using a cast perf and the 3M cast perf costs a small fortune per roll.
Wondering what techniques everyone uses for finishing commercial window perf edges.
- Primer 94
- trim and edge seal tape?
I always laminate and trim...
You could potentially get away with full 54" wide prints which once laminated (not sure if you plan to laminate) may have to be trimmed down a small amount to clean up any edges. I always trim my window perf back 1/4" on all edges and apply edge sealing tape for long lasting results. I generally...
