fine tuning kerns in Corel 12

I have a hard time getting my kerning as I deem fit in CorelDraw, 8, 8 Mac, 11 Mac and 12. In every other program I use (Quark, Indesign, Illustrator, Freehand, even the old LetraStudio) I am able to kern numerically. While each program mentioned is different, slightly, in CorelDraw I can't get anything but full step moves, and it is either too much space or too tight.

HELP!

The shape tool (second tool on toolbar) in combination with the Ctrl key
while in text mode allows you to manipulate each character on the baseline.
Let off on the Ctrl key and you can move the character all over the place.

Look at this too:

Text menu
-Paragraph Formatting
-Language, Character, & Word

In there you can use numerical adjustments to the kerning both by the characters and by words.

Thanks,
I have tried some (Shovelheads post) but not the rest. I will. I don't use Corel too much, but I have a ton of them, 4 two mac two PC and X3 on the way in the spring.
