Last bit of questioning on this topic...
What's the situation with chips for white, or how does the official color setting, CMYKcmSS work in a JV3?
Special may not require a chip, or does it? (And if it does can it be any chip? Like another magenta and cyan?)
Just trying to finalize this path...
Oh man... that was actually simple!
Here's how you do it in a video I found (even in older Rasterlink this is possible)
The key is over or under.
EX: For white on colored media or silver under any printed pixels - Under (special color first)
**** This is for a whole image at a time.
For...
There are a few more sticking points I think (unique to my situation)
1. It's a Mimaki JV3-130spii
2. So it sticks me with the separate dongle, Max of Rasterlink 5, but was the first Mimaki printer to support white ink.
So I'm stuck with RL5, but still can use it to understand spot colors, and...
CMYKx2 vs 6 color (plus 2 ch experimental ink)
Compelling facts:
1. This business is my daughter's. (She's 13 and this is her learning about business... Vinyl cutting, DTG printing, and solvent printing.)
2. Since we are not spending 20-30k on devices... speed is not a factor. (So print twice...
Yeah I hear you about the head$...
But conceptually these are the same Epson technology as any of the other "stylus or artisan" piezo heads.
Technically - Just as you can run solvent ink through a $300 Artisan 1430 safely for at least 6 months... your successes with that head would transfer to...
My JV3 is all sorted now...
Result - The JV3 printer needs a dongle. The Rasterlink 5 software needs a license. Now I have both. :-)
So I am going to print through my CCMMYYKK setup and then switch to CMYKlclm... and [x][x]...
So my question is this - "What kind of advanced options do I have...
Dongle arrived and it now prints fine!
RL2 Pro with dongle - Full Version on XP - Fine. Full function now.
RL5 in demo mode with dongle on Windows 7 - Fine. Full function until expire date 60 days.
Will be buying the RL5 soon to stay on Windows 7. Will give final update when I put in key to see...
Back at it today.... Snowed in (LOL)... My precious dongle on the way (if the Fedex guy is in a snowmobile)
So here we go with what is it now? Round 3?
I confirmed that what I am seeing, I am NOT supposed to see.
None the less...
Windows XP, Uninstall ALL of the mimaki software, drivers...
If it bothers anyone, I will continue over PM... but you kinda hit the nail on the head here...
See specifically the Titan 3 or other ARMS cutter is WHY I want to find a single cut and print solution. It's one step away from having a print/cut machine in one.
So have you used the ARMS cut from...
No problem. Taking worst possible scenario. You know nothing about a dongle / software key / active license control device.
So a "dongle" is just a little USB thing with a "Key" built into it.
Your car uses a Key. Want to drive? You need your dongle / key to start it up... (even if you have...
You guys I need the know will get a kick out of this one...
So update? I need a dongle.
Reality vs perception? A dongle is for the software right? And if the dongle is required, it's not for the printer driver. This is the accepted belief... however, this is not my case it seems...
Ok. That's awesome!
Penalties on DTG are higher thanks to titanium in the white that kills heads, so it's still my preferred method there. (Worth the ink flush)
But soaking the heads is good.
Mimaki sells a Flush cleaning cartridge. Should I buy some of those? Best I understand though, they...
Hi all,
I have a Mimaki JV3 and it had your typical driver issues...
Not just any 1394... a TI 1394...
Windows XP and the old rip... or Specific version driver, and different rip...
So finally as of tomorrow all this stuff comes in, but it took too long to collect it so... a head is clogged...
Yeah... those options are a little high:
1. Acrorip - Does not work. No Mimaki driver. Just Epson. (There may be an equivalent Epson option, but for now, just no. Not going that route...)
2. Keep and use old decrepit Rasterlink Pro II... (AKA buy / build a windows XP desktop with FireWire...
