We've always had that problem as well. We never can weed a printed laminated media as easily as high perf vinyl. After trying different settings, new blades and other variables we just chalked it up to the nature of the beast.

We use a vendor that will laser acrylic sheeted with vinyl - he has to have a system to pull the fumes out though. Does a nice job.

Without going to a handheld router or CNC, a round over bit with a bearing can be mounted in a invert router table (think Duz-all) and then just tracking the part face down. No jigs, no muss, no fuss - you may burn a piece or three getting you feed rate down, though.

+1 on painting it out. It will block out the print and not look like a patch. Scuff and 1-shot.
