  1. Ink is bleeding?

    I would call that overspray.
  2. Roland SP300v recent purchase, can it run on Windows 10?

Getting Versaworks working with Windows 10 was a headache for me. So I run Versaworks 5.5 on a Windows 7 computer
  3. HELP - laminator

I call those wrinkles out at the edges/sides a "boat wake". If the wrinkles are there before you start, they are going to be there in the final result. You need to get those wrinkles smoothed out before you start pushing the print in. Before you begin to laminate, you can lift the laminate...
  4. Anti-graffiti

I did a project with anti-graffiti laminate on exterior printed graphics for a local high school. I did a lot of research on different anti-graffiti lams, and I was really disappointed to find out that they have a shorter exterior lifespan (3 - 5 years tops) than a good cast laminate. It was a...
  5. Vinyl Wraps Wet Method

No...do not use any application liquids with films that have "RA rapid air" or "Air Egress" or "Comply Technology". Dry application only.
  6. Value of working Roland VersaCamm SP540V?

I have a Roland VersaCamm SP540v printer/cutter that I want to sell, but I am lost on what price to list it for. It's roughly 20 years old, works great, used daily, run & maintained by a single operator, always run with OEM inks, and has good print heads. I've looked online on ebay and...
  7. CALENDARED VINYL with MATTE OVERLAM for print & cut vehicle decals

I think that sounds like a bad idea. If it's just "a tad" (like less than 1/4" larger) I think it will lift up easily. If it's bigger (say 1/2" or more) it will be very obvious.
  8. Smooth Grays ?

I have a sp540v. Grays have always been a challenge. I found changing the gray in CorelDraw to a Pantone colour helped (PMS 427C, 428C, 429C, 430C, 431C) and always turned out nicer & smoother than a cmyk mixture.
  9. Printing and laminating a clear Laminate to be used for a partial truck wrap. Any thoughts?

Print on clear cast film. Laminate with clear cast laminate. If the vehicle is a dark colour, you may need a white ink option to get vibrant results.
  10. Double Print for translucent digital prints

I print on translucent white and apply to the face of the plexi. Then I print again on clear (in reverse/mirrored) and apply that to the 2nd surface (backside) of the plexi. The colour looks correct during the day. Vibrant at night. My colleague has a printer with white ink, and he prints 1...
  11. Thoughts on exterior sign specs?

I'd let Gemini tap the letters. Tapping in-house can be time consuming. Plus Gemini will make it so easy by providing a drill pattern of where all the taps are that you can layout on the Alupanel for drilling the holes. The "u-channel edging" is a length of u-shaped channel of PVC that you...
  12. Help with pricing door/window decals and install

I don't think Johnny is yanking your chain. I'd be pretty similar in pricing too. Near Toronto, in an urban area, in Canadian dollars... A) Frosted Vinyl - 8'x3' -No printing / Die-cut only ($600) 2 hours design time ($150) Travel time - 2hrs each way x 2 installers ($400) Installation on...
  13. Magnetic sign price check

If the artwork is print ready, $175 for a pair.
  14. Polycarbonate vinyl outgassing

It's normal that polycarbonate yellows over time when is exposed to the sun. A sign face that has been outside long enough to go yellow is probably not outgassing anymore. I don't think outgassing is causing the bubbles. My guess is it's either the vinyl or the cleaning with alcohol that is...
