The DX4 is in the mimaki JV3 and their is plenty of them still about.
I think the capping station and pump is also the same as the JV3.
I have noticed that the alignment is a pig to setup as they are all individual heads.
But why is the rockhopper 2 such a horrible machine and the people with...
I have a Valuejet 1604 already.
We had an issue were the 1604 was off line for over a week and it caused a serious back log on jobs.
So I am just looking for a back up machine that will probably run in the background and be used mainly to print banners.

I am looking at acquiring a Mutoh Rockhopper 2 64" cheapish.
The guy reckons it hasn't been used for 4 months and when last tried a test print it was very blurry.
Is their anyone can give me some advice when buying one of these machines?
I have a Mutoh Valuejet which I am fairly familiar with...
Is your test print good?
If you have a lot of nozzles out you will never be able to come anywhere near proper matches.
I have had a new print head installed in my 1604 recentley and even though the previous head had only a few nozzles out the colour matching has improved loads.
What RIP are you...
What type is the original file you are printing from?
What material are you printing onto? As the material looks very rough/textured.
Are you using the correct profile for the material?

Soaking the head for prolonged times can actually promote cross contamination of the lines.
I would check if the inside of the capping station is touching the head and if it is change it. When was it last changed?!
I would then set up a print 48"x48! that is just a full size magenta block and...
I have used convex with good results and another material called substance which is marketed in the UK.
I have tried other suppliers but after extensive and costly experience.
But these materials are expensive and a nightmare to cut out afterwards.
If you expect to make money doing this sort of...
Well the last nearly 2 weeks have been rather testing and I have learned a lot.
I have watched the technician we had in and the only thing I can't do is test the main board.
All he did was check about a dozen points for continuity and deemed the board as probably good and after replacing the...
YIPPEE HOORAY WOOHOO.
My printer is working again!!!!!
I got a tech in and he checked the main board and found it to be OK.
Then replaced the head cable, print head and cleaned up and done a bit of maintenance on the station and it's like new. :)
I am a happy bunny :) :) :)
It has printed non...
Personally it is as big or deep your pockets are.
We all have wanted or seen an ideal design computer but most of the time it is out of reach.
I believe Signburst do some unbelievable spec machines but at $5400 for their supernova model it is out of most sign guys reach.
This is an openended...
I have a new main board, cable and print head coming for our VJ1604.
My question is If I install the cable and head into it without the main board will I be able to test these without causing them damage?
The reason being if the fault is in these items only I can return the mainboard if it has...
Seems very pointless being green and recycling anything if everything is made down this specification.
I mean if we were to go out and buy the latest latex printer and for that to last only five years it seems hopeless trying to sell it as environmentally friendly if we have to throw away the...
I could get 2off generic cables for £5 or 2off off mutoh cables for £64 which is a bit more but I don't want to be stuck with a dodgy cable.
I am just a little bewildered why mutoh have not heard of such items as surge protection or even a simple diode so as the current cannot loop back and...
OK then.
I have been told by a tech that when the head or cable has died and is causing the print I am seeing now it needs the head, the head cable and a new main board.
What my question is "is how or why a cable or head goes bad can it damage the main board"?
Or is it designed to just cost a...
