That definitely sounds wrong. My blade holder caps are probable at about a turn and a half to two full turns before the blade begins to be exposed. I doubt that you can buy just the cap but it would be worth checking into.

It's out of the norm to the extent that Only a very small minority of Edge owners use SignLab to drive it. The overwhelming majority use Omega. The SignLab thermal module, while I'm sure a competent product, is still an add-on module and not at the heart of what SignLab's authors had in mind...

The main thing I would say to you is that you are stepping so far out of the normal setup that you're going to have a hard time finding any kind of support ... especially from other users. Using the four corner targets will cost you about 10% of your available print height which you will miss...
