  1. The annual question...how was business this year?

2024's been the best year we've ever had. Need to make a lot of changes for 2025 to grow and up production/capability for current demand. We do the bulk of our annual dollars from June-November. This year we're still busy in December and January is filling up. Traditionally we're slow from...
  2. Choosing a Dust Collector

If you can put on a temporary spoilboard you can always cover it in tile gasket for small parts. TG is made to be cut into ever so slightly. It does work really well to focus the broader vacuum coverage to a single hole and concentrate the hold down. As long as you're dilligent when you set...
  3. Choosing a Dust Collector

We're using V-carve pro for tooling our stuff. Most of my art is supplied in illustrator and we import AI/PDFs into V-carve to program all the tool pathing.
  4. Cnc machine question

I was impressed with the Shop Sabre line up, but support was a big worry on my end. I also wanted knife and vision. I wasn't sold that support for those items was going to be as good as we needed. For a dedicated router with a tool changer I think their stuff looks good from what I've seen.
  5. Mounting acrylic on acrylic and acrylic on drywall

Bron killer red tape is also brutally strong and thin. We use it for part to part assembly, but it's a lot more expensive per roll Vs the oracal 1375. It's just a different animal though.
  6. Mounting acrylic on acrylic and acrylic on drywall

We use Oracal 1375 all day long on our laser, the 1395 is even thicker which I'd prefer, but it's a bear to find a lot of times. Not sure I'd use that to mount to drywall, but it's excellent for flat/smooth surfaces.
  7. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

Yeap, have had similar problems and it was always head alignment or height out of spec.
  8. Choosing a Dust Collector

That was honestly the plan before we got in touch with Allstar CNC about the tile gasket. I wouldn't gush about that stuff if it didn't deliver, but it was a game changer for small parts on our machine. I've had great success applying the heaviest transfer tape I could buy to sheets in the...
  9. Cnc machine question

I think it's important to figure out what it is you're planning on cutting on this machine. That will largely dictate which direction to go to. I will say whatever you chose, look closely at which vendors/manufacturers are local to you as service and support will be critical at some point of...
  10. Choosing a Dust Collector

A little off topic, but tile gasket has worked wonders for the lacking vacuum system on our Axyz Infinite CNC. This is a small part we anticipated having a lot of spoils to cut w/out the tile gasket. In the end we'd lose less than 10pcs per cycle. They make a very good product...
  11. Outsourcing printing but contour cutting in house....advice

Firesprint is worth looking at. They're members on here and they're well equipped.
  12. Printing United This week.

    Digitech makes a fine product.
  13. Outsourcing printing but contour cutting in house....advice

What kind of marks does your cutter require to operate?
  14. Mirror Glass cutting vector shapes

I thought real glass was better with water jet technology, but I'd love to hear more if there's tooling for a CNC to cut glass.
  15. Outdoor acrylic sign for golf course

Heat warping with PVC is a real concern as mentioned. Sounds like Pro-up has great recommendations to follow.
  16. New to CNC - what are some bits/cutters?

I'm also a fan of the Onsrud tooling. I find they last the longest compared to Amana tools w/ or without the Amana coatings. Onsrud's also get a customer support tech team you can call and get recommendations on the proper tooling for a given material and feeds/speeds to try out if you're...
  17. Small Acrylic Shapes Cut on Colex Sharpcut

On our old Gerber we'd put one or two layers of thick transfer tape to the bottom side of the sheets so we could cut into that, but it wouldn't spoil the vacuum (let more and more vacuum leak as we cut more and more shapes) on the sheet.
  18. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

We've had many, many ups and downs with our R2000 too. When it's working, it generally works well. The time needed to print based on media selection is a pain in the butt. The fragility of the inks is also a big problem. Overall we've been happy when the printer isn't having problems. When...
  19. Styrene vs Sintra, what's the difference?

Styrene can yellow long term Vs PVC. We find a lot of retailers do not want PVC anymore because they want to appear 'greener' in terms of waste and recyclability. PVC was always a good alternative to a client that wanted acrylic, but didn't have the budget for it for store fixtures and POP stuff.
  20. Who Has The Best Inks?

Flexible ink's another one to add to the list. Offhand I think you usually suffer some gamut loss, but we didn't have any problems selling printing with a flexible inkset to our clients all said and done.
