  1. You can't make this stuff up.

    Cocaine is a helluva drug!
  2. Tipping Question

I get tips regularly from happy customers. I don't do or say anything special beyond just always trying to do my very best on each job, but I'm always pleasantly surprised. It's usually just $20 or so, but some times it's been $100 or better. Once a guy tipped me $150 for doing a rush job decal...

  4. Is this an Arkansas thing?

It's a thing here in SC also. Bread, bottled water and milk get wiped out every time it's forecast that snow (or a hurricane) might come our way. Also, EVERYTHING shuts the heII down if there is so much as a mention of snow, BUT to be fair, pretty much no one has experience driving in snow, no...
  5. Weeding reflective

I'd guess a bad batch. We use 5600 and print/laminate it sometimes and I have never seen anything like what you describe with the adhesive. Sure, it can be difficult to week like others have described with the tearing issues but I've never seen strands of glue, or had to actually clean up...
  6. DTF Decals

Longevity I suppose is what I am most curious about. This is pulled directly from their brochure: "Our UV-DTF Dura-Stickers are printed using UV inks, resulting in vibrant colors. A high-gloss epoxy lacquer layer is then applied, creating a beautiful embossed effect. They are exceptionally...
  7. DTF Decals

Nope, per their Printing Services Brochure: "Step 5: You stick it with your hand, Step 6: Product is ready"
  8. DTF Decals

Yes, we have a local source for DTF for garments that we use regularly. The example in the link are (I'm assuming) adhesive backed decals that are supposedly indoor/outdoor/dishwasher safe. Same principal in terms of detail/clarity as heatpress but in decal form.
  9. DTF Decals

A guy in the shop just approached me about these DTF stickers and I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this type of product and what opinions you may have. https://www.yousendweprint.com/group/uv-dtf-stickers
  10. How long have you been on here?

Joined when I stumbled across the site in 2008. Got hired with no sign/production experience to design T-shirts and occasionally help out with production when needed. Due to some crazy unforeseen circumstances, it ended up being just me and the guy who bought the business about 2 weeks after I...
  11. How to install laminated window perf vinyl on the storefront?

Can you tell me more about that handled squeegee? That looks quite handy!

  13. Help please

I'm on the confused team with vector doctor. The way the op was worded, it sounded like you needed the body of the letters to be a uniform 6mm, i.e. no portion of the letter being wider or narrower than 6mm. Like the W in ops post, the "wing tip" on the left of the is wider than the "wing tip"...
  14. Sign Estimating Software

Of all of the Sign Estimating solutions I'd looked into, EstiMate was hands down the easiest software to setup and operate. While not perfect, once it's set up to suit your needs it does a pretty decent job at getting a fair ballpark price. Works really well with basic signage. If OP's shop is...
  15. Unusual (maybe) mounting options

Me too, but unfortunately the folks who are making these decisions do not. My hope here isn't to figure out the best place to mount the fish, but the best way to mount the fish in the area in which said fish must be mounted. Once again, I can just hand them the fish and walk away with a check...
  16. Unusual (maybe) mounting options

I agree, and as mentioned in the OP, the mount isn't really required of me. They just want the fish from me. I'm just trying to offer them a better solution to their current plan, should they want to take my suggestion.
  17. Unusual (maybe) mounting options

Mounting on the uprights was my initial suggestion, but they specifically want them to be double sided with an unobstructed view from both sides in those gaps.
  18. Unusual (maybe) mounting options

There honestly is very little traffic through there. This is mostly to appease the owner. The fish won't be on the actual stair case. Just on the top area/mezzanine and the landing platform where the stairs turn 90 degrees.
  19. Unusual (maybe) mounting options

Yeah, they will essentially be double sided relief carvings from a sold plank of rought cut 2" lumber. The pectoral fins will be against the body and not protruding so they wont snag on anything. The dorsal, anal and tail fins will be around 1/4" - 1/2" thick. Edited to add: Even though it's...
