Print minutes is time actually printing.
I've been through two power supplies (one lasted less than 8 months. Still peeved about that), and a print head data cable. Other than that, the machine's been a workshorse!
I was under the impression the print heads are the same across all three models - all of which are limited to 300 dpi along the head axis.
And at 70K print minutes, you should have lots of life left in that machine. Mine's currently sitting at 908723 !
To me, that doesn't look like scratches. Looks like what happens when the foil gets "wrinkled" before/during the print process. Does it happen on all your foils? Or just this red one?
Your settings look fine.
Try printing grey or silver…. Then overprint with Arctic White or Flood Coat White … not regular white. ARCTIC white is my preference, because you can still get decent detail with it.
Each one of those "steps" you see will be 1/300 of an inch, and it's not going to get any better. No matter which dpi you set the FX to print (be it 300, 600, or 1200 with the firmware update), you're still limited to 300 dpi along the head axis.
Does it need to have the textured laminate? Either way, we’d do this on our Gerber Edge.
If you didn’t need/want the textured feel to it, we would just reverse print onto clear vinyl, and you could stick that to your piece of glass - or acrylic - or whatever. Or We would cut the acrylic with...
I'm sure it's something to do with the (uneven) pressure of the printhead across the material. Not sure how to adjust that, or if it's even possible. Could also be uneven material... but that's a little less likely.
