  1. VersaWorks Ink Consumption

Wasatch SoftRIP has a calculation tool, where you can enter your costs for ink and media to get the costs calculated for the current job. Other RIPs might have similar tools too. Tilo
  2. Hello from Sweden

    Hi and welcome from Berlin
  3. Need suggestions on cast printed vinyl/lam

Which lam do you use with the 3651? I'm using 215 instead of the suggested 210. Costs a bit more but much less shrinking. To use the 3951/293 for stickers seems to me a bit overdressed. Also, as vinyl and lam are very thin, it may be a bit tricky to handle the stickers for your customers. I...
  4. SoftRIP

The only way to solve this will be calibrating and profiling your machine/media. To much to explain in a short post. If you're not familiar with this procedure, I suggest to let do this somebody for you. It costs you some money but will protect your hair from getting neutral grey instead of the...
  5. Hello from Va.

    Hi and welcome from Berlin.
  6. Your criteria for firing a customer

:clapping::clapping::clapping: These guys are always my best friends. Last week in the evening a guy from a constructors company knocked my door. Shop was already closed. I'd never seen him before. Asked me for 2 € for the tram and said, in the next days he will come with some orders. May be...
  7. metallic vinyl

I've done it the same way as iSign. Never had success in printing directly on silver Oracal 751. Will try the 851. Thanks for the hint.
  8. Ink Pooling

Ooops, same time posting. I keep ma fingers crossed. Good night.
  9. Ink Pooling

Just print a large red patch of 100 M + 100 Y. If this looks muddy and not colourful, then the limit of M or Y or both is to low. Also it would be interesting, what a Roland tech says about this ink set up. May be, there are known problems and a workaround.
  10. Ink Pooling

Btw, are you on a night shift? Must be around midnight in Sydney.
  11. Ink Pooling

Not very high densities, especially for M and Y. Have you tried to print a few swatches of primary colours? Just to check if you can print nice looking reds and greens and so. May be, with these low values you are cutting the gamut of the printer.
  12. Ink Pooling

Hm??? A total ink limit below 200 %? That means, that for example Red can't be made of 100 % M + 100 % Y and will possibly be looking muddy or brownish. What happens, if you decrease Yellow to 50 % and set a total of 200 %? Usually I have a total ink limit of about 220-270% for glossy vinyl, but...
  13. Ink Pooling

Although you said that you had an eye on the individual ink limits, for me it looks like an issue of to much ink in single channels. In most media settings I've seen the settings for C and M are to high. I think, for 540x720 a limit of around 80 % for C and M would be a good starting point. And...
  14. vworks

The same adress as set in your printer. Look at the Menu -> System Info -> Network -> IP Adress Something like 192.168.000.055
  15. pdf issues

To convert a pdf into a jpg or tiff is probably not the best way as you loose the ability to set different rendering intents for vector and raster elements in the RIP. I think, this should be only a compromise solution. Printing from Acrobat or export to eps seems the better way to me. Btw...
  16. Digi Print Supplies

I have bought a print head and some small parts like wipers for my Roland from Digiprint Supplies in the past. Very quick delivery. Less than two days from Belgium to Germany. Lowest prices I could find in Europe. Can recommend them. Tilo
  17. Color profiles and Color Settings in Illustrator

Hi John, if you keep this "preserve CMYK numbers" activated, what I suggest, the values you set in Illustrator for your vector designs won't be affected by perceptual rendering intent. So, if you set a pure green for some object it will be sent as 100% Y + 100% C to your RIP. Otherwise your...
  18. Color profiles and Color Settings in Illustrator

The media profiles you have created are the output profiles for Versaworks. In the print dialogue of AI you should set "Printer defines Colours" (or similar, mine is in German). As eye4clr said, this is the way to let the RIP do the colour conversion. AI hands out the data to the RIP in the...
  19. pdf issues

Another way is printing from Acrobat to the RIP. I regularly use this instead of loading a pdf dirctly into the RIP. Wasatch for example has massive problems with interpretation of transparencies. Tilo
  20. changing cartridges

The ink level indicator on the menu is very inaccurate. Also the one in VersaWorks. Wait, as Mike said, till the alarm comes up and printing stops. I never had a problem changing ink in middle of a job. The ink status in Versaworks is helpful to prepare a cartridge for changing. That should be...
