I had that problem too when I started, and now I cheat, if my media is 54" I set the far outside roller to 60" and it usually works fine....

I may be late to the party (As I just stumbled on this site) but the negative images are usually due to 16-bit processing of the file... we reduced to 8-bit processing, and it seems to work fine now....
