We are right now back where we started. The machine has the original network chip and works if we keep it warm. Next thing we will try is to change the Y5 and Y2 as Cosmin suggest.

I do not understand, which is the raster film? I think I have problem with locking of printing head.

Do you got spare parts for Roland machines? We also have a SP-300 that I think the long head cable is broken. It stops in random places while printing and we get an error message about the head not finding the sensor.

When I try to run encoder setup I also get error 0101. I have now found out that the printer head does not lock in place in the parking place. I need to look at the locking mechanism that does not work. Thanx for the input, I will try it when I get the head to lock in place.

Update! Network connection is now working again with original RTL8102 chip! But, in my search for errors I tested every possible thing I could think of and sadly did a factory reset on the machine. Now we get error code 0101, Limit Position Initialize in the Service Mode has not been done. I...

Which equivalent did you use? The ones I have found so far is obsolete.

Ok so maybe I have killed the oscilator when I replaced the rtl chip. I will know when I try the board in the machine again o_O

Ok, I will look for equivalent then. Do you know if the new rtl8102 chip is "blank" without firmware? It sure looks like it.

Anyhow, I have put back the original rtl8102 and will make a trip to my friend tomorrow or on Thursday and try the mainboard in the machine again.

Ok, so you suggest that I replace the oscilator with a real crystal? I've had problems in the past when our supplier replaced a crystal with an oscilator without telling us. Do you know of a replacement with same footprint and so on?

Well, since I haven't found any bad caps, nor any other bad solder joints, I have decided to solder back the original chip. We atleast had network leds lit and flashing with the original chip. Will try to do that this weekend but I have other work that pays the bills that I need to do first...

Schematic of Realtek network chip, I can not see any jumpers but I'm very tired now and will have another look tomorrow.

Well, I have now checked all the caps, they are ok, they are all good in range of the tolerance according to spec. There is voltage where it should be according to the Realtek spec. My question now, is the new Realtek chips blank on arrival? If they are, can I load the firmware/software to them...

well, the last thing I tried before I replaced the Realtek chip was a reflow of the entire mainboard. Did not make any difference either. There has been a problem with temperature on this machine for a long time. The company that had the machine before my friend had a heatfan blowing warm air...
