  1. Is your shop prepared for the upcoming barter system?

And you don't think that "Will you have someone trained in appraisals who can determine the value of guitars, batteries and gold teeth, and how big of a "Family starving, will do literally anything for food!" sign it will get them in trade?" It isn't a dad joke, true, but that is funny. It...
  2. Is your shop prepared for the upcoming barter system?

Awwe. And I cared so much about your opinion. Oh well.
  3. Is your shop prepared for the upcoming barter system?

Anyone have a favorite post apocalypse movie? Zombies, war, whatever...
  4. Is your shop prepared for the upcoming barter system?

How have you gotten this far in life without knowing how to recognize a joke?
  5. Is your shop prepared for the upcoming barter system?

Good question. The whole zombie thing throws a monkey-wrench into everything. Want a hammer? Fight your way to the store and take one. Want to get drunk? Fight your way to the liquor store and take whatever you want. I'm guessing that things like community and fresh food and a place where...
  6. Is your shop prepared for the upcoming barter system?

Gold has value because you can't just turn on a printer and crank out more of it. There is a limited supply of gold, and it takes effort to create. That is why it is money. Fiat is currency, not money. Of course, it all depends on how far we fall. If we go back to the stone age, gold is...
  7. Is your shop prepared for the upcoming barter system?

Oh, of course there will still be a need for signs! And think of all the possiblities! We won't have a steady supply or pretty much everything, so we'll get to improvise!
  8. Is your shop prepared for the upcoming barter system?

It seems like every day, the tea leaves come up the same; bad times are ahead. I was hoping to check in and see if anyone else was thinking about how they will effectively run their business on the barter system once the dollar becomes totally worthless in a couple of years. Have you...
  9. Work Orders

So, you're entering the job into quickbooks, tracking it there and then billing it out? Is that slowing you down?
  10. Work Orders

I think the point to these kinds of forms (and forms in general) is to differentiate between what information you need, and the information you just thought about and added to fill the empty space. Case in point. The POS system we use has a system for adding customer information; here's what...
  11. Contour Cut Sign to be Hung Outside on Facade of Building

I've had nothing but success with ACM, especially 6mm ACM. Although, I do agree that it is a lot of weight, and that means whatever you decide to do for mounting will need to be robust. And, to keep too much stress from loading on any one point, this means a fair amount of studs. This, in...
  12. "My brother-in-law is a graphic designer in New York City" oh yay...

That's from the television show we were just talking about.
  13. Laminator bubbles vinyl when laying on ACP

Bubbles to me sounds like more material on the bubble side (like Queen sized sheets on a Twin sized bed). I could be wrong, but you could loosen the top a little and tighten the bottom a little and give it another test.
  14. 20% Restocking Fee

20% is pretty steep. I don't mind a charge to re-tape opened boxes and ship them, but it seems like that would be a flat rate based off of size and weight. Yeah, 20% hurts.
  15. Looking to "wrap" a Dirt Track Car

Do you need this wrap to last 5 years? I'm guessing that for one reason or another, they are going to want to replace it anyway. I say go with a calendared vinyl (3M IJ35 or something). Spend your money on some fluorescent accents in something like Orafol 7510. Work those bright elements into...
  16. "My brother-in-law is a graphic designer in New York City" oh yay...

So, he's never done this business before and wants to go pro. How good can a double V be at plowing and hot crack fill?
  17. Question How do you prepare your install crew for an install?

It is a fine line. If there is going to be paperwork, I want it to be efficient and clear and I don't want anything superfluous. Anything my guys don't need to do their jobs should be left out.
  18. Question How do you prepare your install crew for an install?

One of the things I am looking to do is to tighten up my store's communication game. We spend more time than we should chasing down details for jobs. My installer recently asked me "where is this getting installed?", and I didn't have an answer for him. I realized that he frequently has...
