Alternatives to Accrobat?

I have created a digital work order as a PDF form for my sales reps. They like the form in general but one thing I forgot is that Accrobat Reader does not allow saving changes to a PDF file. Is there an inexpensive alternative to reader that will allow my sales team to save PDF work orders after they have filled them out?

While this isn't the perfect solution, it'll allow your sales reps. to save their changes but not retain the form capabilities. As you already know, you can't do a "save" or "save as" but you should be able to go to your print menu and opt for "save to PDF."

It's been over a year since I had this same problem with a client who didn't have Acrobat, and I think this was our solution. If not, I'll go back through my files and find out what worked.

excel maybe? how about just a web browser even, could that work if the fill in areas are created as fields?

I have the full Acrobat version, so I've never really had to look for an inexpensive alternative to reader.

try foxit reader ... i dont know if it specifically addresses your issue but it gets around a lot of the restrictions in reader and is laser fast

I am sure there is away to create forms that can be filled out and saved without having the Pro version....Something to do with Local Save option....Google it or sign up for a month at www.Lynda.com

yeah there is - make sure you "distribute" the form - that should allow saving

i did something similar with pre-press job tickets - all is fine. its tabbabbabbabble through each field in sequence for filling in, has some check boxes and stuff, and the CSR here fill em in, save em and email me them with artwork so yes it is deffo dooooable:rock-n-roll:
