Ansel Adams negatives found a fraud?

Kind of an interesting story that was on the local news last night and in stories today. Something about this though tells me there is much more to this.

They sure look like Adams photos to me but that is coming from a guy that can't even draw a stick figure.

If these are real they are a great find.

I have seen a few other good finds show up like a Jackson Pollock painting for $5 at a garage sale worth $80K and a Tiffany lamp with a similar purchase and value. Both of these were on the Antiques Roadshow series.

Biggest find in our family was an antique auction that my father went to (he liked those but I don't have the patience for such things) and he bought a blind box and it had a gold belt buckle in it.

there was a story this morning on the local morning show and it said the guy picked them up at a garage sale for $45.00 and they are now estimated to have a value of 200 million plus.
I feel sick for the poor shmuck who sold them!!!!

These were glass plate negatives that were believed lost to a 1920s darkroom fire. If they are authentic, and I believe they are, they are worth bucks. I'm wondering if there will be a legal battle over them. I can see a situation where St. Ansel's family might try to claim them.

One hypothesis I read was that Ansel pulled the damaged negatives from his "B" file to let students learn to print from them. When he left the University he forgot to take them so they ended up being sold in a surplus auction. At any rate, wish it was me that found them!

as an artist, i'd bet ansel adams is perturbed from the grave. artists have thousands of "rejects", studies, test pieces, sketches that all don't make the cut as a piece worth producing. now it looks like these negatives that ansel himself deemed as not up to par will be sold as "lost masterworks" for millions.

Guy who found them lives 20 minutes from here. Local paper says they've been examined and are real but Adams family is disputing it. :p
