Any tricks to masking and painting three colors on a small piece in close proximity?

We are building a sign with acrylic dimensional letters and they're wanting to paint the logo, which is a three-color line drawing. I just want to make sure I've exhausted all options:

Option A: Cut mask, paint one color, dry, re-mask, paint, etc...
Option B: Cut mask, paint, tape off and cover painted area, remove mask for next area, paint, etc (less dry time)
Option C: Printed vinyl
Option D: ???

The sales person is gung-ho on painting it. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about it so it won't take a week?

Depends really on how much you're charging.. Vinyl is cheapest and easiest, but paint will last the longest but will take the longest to apply.

Look at your margins and what the customer wants.. Afterall. You are providing a service to the customer.. Go with what they want. If the quote is too high.. The quote is too high.

Freehand paint it.
It'll take you 2 weeks to psych yourself up to do it, and 15 minutes to actually do it, if you know how to use a paint brush properly. This being a sign forum, one might hope so! ;)

Matthews makes a product for this purpose. It’s called a converter and allows you to mask and paint muutiple colors in one day. The converter changes a Matthews color coat into a fast-drying dead flat film that dries quickly, allowing for masking and painting the next color without the usual dry time. I’ve applied as many as four coats in one day if I start early and humidity cooperates. Finish with clear at the evd of the day. ••• Experiment and test.
