We have a 124" and it's fantastic. Have it about 6 years or so. Good luck on finding a used one, but if you're gonna use it a lot, like us, why not just buy a new one ?? They'll pay for themselves in no time.

Anyway, a good place to get these is from a Merchant Member here. Graphics Resource Systems. They're some really great people there. Ask for either Chris or Dave. :thumb:

Yea... haven't had any luck finding one used.

Now I'm debating a 60" vs 80" vs 100". I know the 100" would come in handy occasionally, but I think the most help would come trimming smaller things, so a 60" would help the most on average. A compromise would be the 80"

Opinions?

We have 126" Keen Evolution. I just looked. I thought it was 124", but it's 126"

It costs, but the ease of cutting just about anything other than metal is fantastic. We just did a bunch of 114" banners and some 96" banners. 16 all total. Done within minutes. We have an order coming up in a few weeks where we'll be printing 75 or 80 5' x 10' 2-sided Cor-X to be cut down to 30" x 30". It will take maybe 4 or 5 hours to cut some 600 units to size. I'm not sure how the Saber system works, but we've never looked back on getting ours. If you only do 5 or 6 things longer than 80" a year, then go with the shorter one, but preparing yourself for the future is a goal you should consider.

We do a lot of 18" x 24" Cor-X signs. We do them 10 up, flip them and do the second side and cut 'em down in about a minute a 4 x 8. With so much substrates coming through at 8' and 10' it seems like a no brained to go big. If you've been fiddling around and making things work on a smaller scale, think about the logistics of have one station set up to do ANYTHING.

If it's the money, you can always find a little more cash to do it right. However, go small and find out you should've gone bigger, now it is too late.

Thanks for the feedback guys.... yes, we do a decent amount of banners, so that is something to consider. Although we typically fold over and hem them, so a perfect cut isn't really required and I'm not sure the trimmer would save us a lot of work there.

As for substrate cutting, We do most of that on a custom setup table saw setup. Where I was thinking it would save us the most was in cutting down smaller jobs -- 24"x36" multiples down to 4"x4" multiples.

If space wasn't an issue for us right now, I don't think I'd hesitate on the larger unit, but this will not be full time table mounted, but be on the floor next to our 5'x10' table, and put on the table when needed.

hrmmmm

We have an 80" RotoTrim, which is the same type of rotary cutter that we never use. PM me if you're interested in getting it for a song.
