Applying Cut Vinyl Lettering

Im a newbie. Just bought a GX24 and plotted out a large lettering sign for my box van. I am wondering how to use transfer tape without getting bubbles etc in it. I have a 12 inch roll of clear vinyl transfer tape and some wide rolls of what look like masking tape. Are these to be used to transfer the lettering? Sorry, but I didnt see a listing talking about this. Thanks. Bob
