Assuming it is a damper issue?

This morning my Magenta print lines were filled with black ink.

I'm running a 7 year old VJ-1204.

In Jan. of this year I replace the machines Print Head and MS and the machine has been running flawless since.

The dampers on the machine have never been replaced. I assume this is the issue?

Any input?

How full is the magenta cartridge? How far back into the magenta lines does the black ink go?

Normally what happens is the cartridge, in this case the magenta, is empty or extremely close to empty and the printer doesn't register it. This causes a back pressure on the magenta channel and it pulls ink out of the capping station.

I have had that happen before when cartridges are low, However in this case the magenta cartridge is just over half full.

My machine was due for a clean, So I did that this morning thinking the head may have not been properly seating in the cap.
I ran some solid magenta prints to get the line back to and it has been working fine while printing.

I'm still skeptical however if this will happen again tomorrow when I come in after the machine has sat for a few hours.
