Back lit frame...lightbox?

I am looking to either make or buy a frame for the purpose of displaying a translucent print on coroplast/glass/acrylic for a buddy of mine.
I am looking to make/buy it for no more than $15-$25 looking for around 18x24 or 24x36.
I found snap frames in that price but they have no depth, nowhere to put LED lights.

I want to put my own led lights behind it to light it so it has to have at least one inch depth...the more I type the more I am thinking I am going to have to make this.

But, you never know does this exist?

If I make it I would probably use wood and basically just make sort of a picture frame/shadow box and use acrylic with a translucent vinyl print.
Light boxes are hundreds of dollars so that will not work, is there anything out there I can look into?
Thanks!

w/o special low profile LED's I think minimum you should go is 3.5" deep

I DON't think you can even get materials (from a metal supply house) to build it for $15

OK thanks, I didn't know about the depth issue. I assume at this point I will have to get the raw materials and make it myself. But I will keep checking back here. Thank you.

backer: .063 aluminum/dibond - white

sides: 4.5" - 6" wide length(s) of .040 with a break @ 1" (for an 18x24 you would need a 7'1" section (the extra 1" is to overlap the seam where they meet together) and a 90degree notcher for the corners

face: acrylic with trimcap

Wow, thanks, so how would the backer Connect to frame, how would acrylic?

yes, as said by zsigns, the acrylic would get trimcap, then screwed to the sidewalls of the box

the backer can be riveted on - that's what the 1" break on the sides is for

tomorrow I can draw up an example if needed

well I am pretty sure I get it, but hey if you really want to draw something up I sure wouldn't turn it down, unless you were being sarcastic, then it was mean but funny, lol.
Now to actually bend the metal is there an actual specific tool?
Thanks.
