Banner patching.

I swear if I get one more customer that comes in here and asks me to patch over the date/sponsor of their banner from last year...

It's happened three times in the last two days. I'm growing weary of tire kickers and "how cheap can you make this?"

The problem is, by the time I design the patch, print it, and stick it to the banner -- i might as well have just made them the new banner. If I charge accordingly, they look at me like I just shot their dog.

Then tell them the REAL cost. If I get a job like this, I normally just charge $25 because it's in the computer, and they're a previous customer. If a job comes in I hate doing, I charge accordingly to make it worth my time. Just do that and the job either goes away, or it's worth your while.

I don't get it. If it's doable I tell them how much, usually it's a date- no big deal. If it doesn't make economic
sense, like when they want way too much changed, then I say so. Nothing wrong with recycling and saving a buck.

It's all in the value they place on the patch I guess is my gripe. I understand wanting to save a buck, but my time is not free. I dont want to give them a crappy product or overcharge to run them off, just get folks to understand that it takes us almost as much time to make a 1x8 patch as it does make them a new 4x8 banner. then i've got a lot of wasted material unless i can find a job to nest their job with...
