We've got a job coming up that requires floor graphics and our distributor has suggested to use 3M IJ162 as the base material but can't even get us a sample - will only sell us a full roll. I know I've seen everyone talks about the Oracal vinyls, so I'm wondering if someone would have a suggestion that we can use as an alternate to the 3M. We are going to be using drytac interlam pro emerytex 5mil as the laminate.
Chaz
IJ162 is good stuff, but is kind of a lower-tac media. I think it's spec'd for fairly short-term though (3 months or something) It has a matte finish and prints really nice, but the laminate typically negates that increase in print quality.
I actually use 3M IJ180c-v3 a lot with good results. The laminate is prob. the most important part. As long as you don't use a crappy vinyl like 3M IJ-10 or something calendared you should be good.
Media: 3M IJ180c
Laminate: 3M 3645 (expensive) or Oracal AS202 (cheaper, but holds up really well)
In my opinion....
Good luck, go team!
