big problem with 1204 VJ - at leats big to me

to make a long story short - magenta quit printing.

my wife asked the pertinent question - is the ink cartridge emty.
it seemed to be and the sensor/warning beep never told us.
I replaced the cartridge.

do I have to do anything to suck the magenta into the line?

will head cleaning do it?
other procedure?

Is the line empty all the way back? Typically you can do a few little charges and get the ink pulled back into the lines. However, realize you will be wasting as much ink from the other colors as you pull with the magenta. A more frugal way is to manually pull the ink through the lines using a syringe but requires you to remove the dampers to do so.
