The World Is Never Enough
Hi everyone, I have a Mutoh Rockhopper 38 and am having a Vertical Banding issue, either from the heaters, or when printing in 2 pass. I have been checking out the Foil tape fix, but havent seen any pix of exactly where it goes....can someone help me out with a pic possibly? or some better instructions?

Also, maybe Randya can help here, but if it is because of the 2 passes how do I adjust only 2 areas? it prints everywhere else fine, just bad in a couple places? I can post prints if need be....

Thanks! James :thankyou:

The fix is for vertical banding at the heater segment interfaces.
You can see the gaps looking at the platen.

If your vertical banding does not line up with these gaps this may not be your issue.

The first thing I notice is that it does not apply to my printer....I have a 38" printer.

I am almost certain now that it is 2 pass, how do I fix the two pass alignment when the rest of the print works perfect? Should I print an example?

Thanks a bunch, James

I didnt have a chance to print something that I can get a good pic of, but if it helps look at the pix in this post... http://signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49425&highlight=banding

It is similar to that, only Vertical, a little wider, and only in 3-4 places across the printer (38" wide).

Just so you know, I obviously thought it was heat, so I shut all that down, turned it up ect ect....same. This problem is ONLY on 2 pass mode, and it really looks like the ink on the second pass is just not being spray'ed on the right spot in those areas. How do I adjust that??? Doesnt seem like I can just adjust those areas?

I would love to figure this out....Im sure you know how long it takes a Rockhopper 38 to print in single pass!! :frustrated:

Thanks so much for any and all help, if there is anything I can ever help you with just ask!

Are the 3-4 places evenly spaced across the printer?

Do they line up with anything on the printer?
