Why on earth would we want to go near this! Copyright for a start and finding such images (in proportion too,) not to mention the spelling of signs (signes)

Made me laugh on a Friday afternoon. Right I'm off for a beer or two with the wife.

I once had a phone call from a buyer who asked ...

"Do you have a For Sale by Owner sign with the following phone number on it?" and he read me his phone number. I replied that "those are all stored in Alabama and that I'd have to get back to him."

Over the years I've come to realize that a large segment of clients do not understand that their signs are custom made for them. In reality, they think, we have them stored away, ready to go, and this is why they feel free to try to negotiate the price.

When I was hand lettering years ago, I was surprised at how many times someone would see me letter a truck and ask if I could letter a sign. Or watch me letter a sign and ask if I could letter a truck. I always thought those were stupid questions.

The best though was when an old farmer watched my sign writer friend letter a farm truck and paint a pictorial of a pig on the door. The old farmer asked, "Can you paint a cow?", to which my friend replied, "If you can hold him still!" hahaha

YES! I also love the menu board people... "It needs to have a breakfast sandwich with two eggs, one slice of cheese, one meat, and NO SESAME SEEDS ON THE BUN! my buns don't have sesame seeds!" followed up by "What do you mean I have to pay for your time to research specific images?!?"

Whenever I get one of these I basically know that they want a $1 Walmart sign. I am thinking about buying some of these and marking them up to $10 and selling them, but I normally send them to Walmart or the hardware store. It's kinda like my "build your own sign" bundle. A blank yard sign and step stake for $10. It's a steal...or you can just do it right.
